As his nickname suggests, he is usually seen filming various awkward scenes in the lives of his co-workers, especially Hio. And he also got his nickname because he wanted to become a film director. Director is also the acting "director" of the bookstore's workers, especially when the Manager is not there to keep the store running.

Not much is shown about Kantoku/Director's past, but it is mentioned that he once dated Tsumorin, a former clerk at Umanohone before. But as time passes, he started to like Hio, which he calls "Hio-tan".
